My Task

July 28, 2008 at 11:09 am (Musings..., Scripture References)

I certainly understand that fasting and praying shouldn’t be for show — we should quite frankly crawl into our closet to pray most effectively, but in my effort to share honestly as I blog, I will speak about my fasting — not for any reason except to share how it has effected my life.

I usually fast on Wednesdays — a 24-hour fast each week to move the hand of God in the lives of the people I love — and also to show the Lord how important it is for me to be a prayer warrior.  While many prayers have been answered, fasting has proven to be most beneficial to me — in ways I can’t even explain.  My faith has been renewed as I have seen the Hand of God move.

Yesterday, I was praying for a spiritual moving/miracle in a situation and the Lord did move.  However, this morning, as I was preparing to eat breakfast, the Lord spoke to me that I needed to fast as an intercessor in this situation, because the miracle was fragile and satan was looking for a foothold…  So I am fasting…  quite honestly, my stomach is growling.

I looked up the word “Task” in the dictionary.  The definition includes, “An assigned piece of work to be finished within a certain time.  Something hard that has to be done.”

My task today is to fast and pray.   May the Lord continue to work and move.  May there be a hedge of protection so strong around this miracle that satan CANNOT gain any foothold.  “Surround, Lift, Cover… ”

“I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.  Nothing will be impossible for you.”  Matthew 17:20
