Blessing Thorns

April 28, 2009 at 11:29 am (Musings...)

I was working with dried roses this morning.  They are both delicate and beautiful, pale yellow and soft pink.  They also have thorns on their stems.  The Lord spoke to me as I was arranging a bouquet.  The thorns didn’t prick me!  They had no body and bent to my touch.

As the thorns lost their nourishment (water), they lost their stiffness and became as pliable as paper.  They no longer were useful as thorns.

If you are dealing with a “thorny” issue, and stop watering it, the thorn will wither and no longer hurt you.

“Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.  Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing…”  1 Peter 3:8,9

May we learn today to stop adding water to the thorns in our lives… May we learn to take a step back and begin to pray blessing over the thorn!
