Chippendale Seminar

August 24, 2009 at 11:57 am (Decorative Painting)

This weekend I had the privilege of learning how to paint “chippendale roses” based on a design by David Jansen, taught and adapted by Paul Seymour, at Seymour’s Creative Legacy Studio, in Ebensburg.

Of course, in addition to painting, we ate great food.  Paul and Tom spoke in their ghastly French accents.  Gina (the beautiful woman, front left in the picture) however, has lived in France and we found out that Paul and Tom’s accents aren’t really authentic!!!  Who knew?!?!?!

We laughed and painted, painted and laughed.

Because seminars are, by their nature, difficult for me to complete, I decided to design a smaller piece for myself.  Paul helped me assign color and perfect a few of the flower placements, but the design is mine.  I’m so proud of it!  I think I will re-paint it with the new Heritage colors and publish a packet.  Danny O made the door crown for me.

Thank you, Paul, for being my teacher, mentor, and friend!!!  I could never have imagined this journey would be such a spectacular one!!
